In a study of patient preference for sitting verses standing physicians, Strasser et al. found that 51% of patients preferred their physicians to be sitting while discussing during inpatient consultation. They stated that they perceived the seated physician as more compassionate and as spending more time with each patient. 23% preferred their physician to be standing, and 26% had no preference.
