In a recent WSJ article , Sarah Needleman said "...recruiters and hiring managers say many unemployed candidates blow the opportunity by appearing desperate or bitter about their situations -- often without realizing it."

Self awareness is important in all situations. When you are trying to impress a potential employer with your value it is critical. Often we are completely unaware of the little things we do and say that present a negative face to those we are interacting with. Building that awareness takes practice and, often, someone who can be a "mirror" for us to help us learn what we are unintentionally saying with our approach.
