ALOC's facilitation of our management retreat served as a catalyst for vastly improved team communication. The exercises were deceptively well-timed and also well thought out. The results were remarkable and I can't remember when I've seen that dynamic happen so matter-of-factly. ALOC was a game changer. Not only did we at Vanderbilt notice the transformation, so did prospective employers.  The ALOC team was instrumental in molding 24 Master of Accountancy students into a high functioning team of highly employable professionals.  ALOC positioned the students through the job placement process to understand firsthand the value of cooperation.  The sense of a common purpose they developed so impressed the recruiters that every student landed a job in one of the Big 4 public accounting firms.  Through ALOC programming the students learned how to challenge each other to be the best they can be and gained the confidence to share what often goes unspoken and too often derails an individual or a team.

We had serious issues coming into the retreat and ALOC did a great job of bringing those out. You certainly achieved all of my goals. Since the retreat my people have been more open and have made a concerted effort to communicate. We still have a ways to go and I'm planning to call you to help me implement the follow up.

My ALOC coaching experience didn't bog me down with qualitative style and skills assessments. Instead it taught me to create the conditions under which my staff can perform independently and effectively toward a common objective. I'm now more open to new ideas, I accomplish more and most importantly, I'm no longer afraid to fail.

After a few sessions with ALOC, I felt like I had known my new classmates for years...It brought our group together quicker than I could ever have expected.  With ALOC, it was more than just games with a meaning. Each task showed a different aspect or difficulty of working with others to accomplish a goal. But the lesson didn't end there; much of our time was spent in conversation with one another. We learned from one another, not just the instructors. We shared, disagreed, discussed, and reflected in a way that enabled us to apply the lessons both personally and professionally.  When I first heard that my graduate school class would be participating in sessions with ALOC, I had very low expectations, thinking it would be another round of the same old 'teambuilding exercises' I had experienced in the past. Throughout my experience with ALOC, however, I was surprised to find how relevant the tasks and discussions were...I was also greatly impressed by and appreciative of how quickly the sessions brought our group together.

I really appreciate the time and energy you have put into working with our group, and I thank you for your patience with us. We have learned so much about each other through this experience, and I have already used some of the experiences in a behavioral interview. Thanks again.

I was dreading another 'team building day' but it turned out to be fun and interactive. It felt like games but we came away with so much more.
